Pink Slips (eSafety Checks)

If your vehicle is more than five years old and weighs up to 4.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM), you'll generally need a Pink Slip, also known as an eSafety Check, before renewing your NSW registration.

During the inspection, our authorised examiner checks the safety of key vehicle components, including:

• Brakes

• Steering and suspension

• Tyres and wheels

• Lights and indicators

• Windscreen and wipers

• Seatbelts

• Vehicle structure

 

Once your vehicle passes the inspection, we'll lodge the result electronically with Transport for NSW, so it's ready for your registration renewal.

Blue Slips (Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspections)

North Manly Tyres & Mechanical is also authorised to perform Blue Slip inspections, officially known as Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspections (AUVIS).

A Blue Slip is generally required if:

• Your vehicle registration has expired for more than three months.

• You're registering a vehicle in NSW that was previously registered interstate or overseas.

• You're registering an unregistered vehicle.

• Your vehicle requires identity verification before registration.

Blue Slip inspections are more comprehensive than a Pink Slip and include both a roadworthiness inspection and vehicle identity check.

Green Slips (Compulsory Third Party Insurance)

Before registering most vehicles in NSW, you'll need a Green Slip, also known as Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance.

CTP prices vary between insurers, so it's worth comparing your options before purchasing your policy.

Once your Green Slip is in place and your Pink Slip or Blue Slip has been completed (if required), you'll be ready to finalise your vehicle registration.

A Blue Slip, or Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection (AUVIS), is a detailed inspection that verifies both the identity and roadworthiness of an unregistered vehicle before it can be registered in NSW.

When Do I Need a Blue Slip?

You'll usually need a Blue Slip if:

• Your registration has expired for more than three months.

• You're bringing a vehicle into NSW from another state or overseas.

• You're registering an unregistered vehicle.

What Happens If My Vehicle Doesn't Pass?
